PTO Meeting Minutes

Remember, the entire Baker community is welcome at PTO meetings, where you can learn about what's going on at school, plans for the future, fundraising efforts, and more.

Minutes from the last meeting are below.  Click Here for the notes about Emily Pelkey's presentation on technology at Baker.

Our next week meeting will be in a morning time slot - details to come - hope to see you there!

Baker School PTO Meeting Minutes - January 31, 2013

Board members in attendance: Kristin Jones, Kerriannce Ciccone, Larry Jordan, Carolyn Thall, Sarah Jeung

1. Baker School's Instructional Technology Specialsit, Emliy Pelkey, gave a presentation about the current state of technology at Baker and the technology budget (info for Baker and district). She stressed that the 3 laptop carts (each containing 24 computers) the school currently owns are not meeting teacher/student demand. Scheduling the carts is proving difficult. There is urgent need for a new cart (24 new laptops). A new cart is about $28,000.

There was discussion about how the PTO's current fundraising efforts are focused on purchasing a new laptop cart.

2. Kristin Jones presented an update on plans for the Silent Auction & Raffle, scheduled for March 15th. A good number of exciting items have been donated by Baker teachers, parents, and community members. We want to make sure non-English speakers are receiving information about the Auction and other PTO events. We could ask Room Parents to reach out to parents in individual classes as a way to better ensure all community members feel informed about and welcome at events.

2. Kristin Jones presented a spreadsheet describing the PTO's budget for this school year. The PTO has stayed on budget so far in terms of spending. The goal now is to fundraise for technology. There was some discussion of developing a multi-year spending plan, especially if there is consensus that technology is a the PTO's primary fundraising goal.
